SidePiece ("the App") is an open-source macOS application. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the App accesses and how it is handled.
The App does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. We do not use analytics, advertising frameworks, or third-party tracking services.
The App does not track you across apps or websites. No tracking domains are contacted by the App.
The App stores your preferences (such as selected models and API keys) locally on your device using macOS UserDefaults and the system Keychain. This data never leaves your device.
The App requires API keys to communicate with AI providers you configure (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI). These keys are stored securely in your macOS Keychain. API requests are sent directly from your device to the provider you select — the App does not proxy or intercept these requests.
The App accesses files and directories you explicitly open in order to provide project-aware AI assistance. File contents are sent to the AI provider you configure as part of your conversations. The App reads file timestamps for display and indexing purposes. No file data is sent to us or any third party beyond the AI provider you choose.
The App communicates only with the AI provider APIs you configure. Please refer to the privacy policies of those providers for information about how they handle your data.
The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
